  3. Principles of physical activity, exercise and training approaches to develop fitness and health
  4. Health screening, risk stratification and scope of practice
  5. Health awareness and lifestyle management
  6. Supporting clients in a gym-based environment
  7. Plan, deliver and evaluate gym-based training

The assessment

How you are assessed

There is no written exam. The main assessment is a series of professional discussions: recorded sessions where an assessor asks you questions and you talk through your answers.

Alongside those you answer case study questions, build a portfolio of exercise inductions, produce session plans and deliver gym-based training while a qualified assessor observes.

Attendance

Funded courses have required learning hours, so attendance matters. There is a 30 minute grace period for late arrival or early departure, and any time missed is made up during lunch the same day. If an emergency stops you finishing, you can rejoin the next course and complete your outstanding work.

Can you get a free place?

A funded place costs you nothing if all four of these are true:

  • You are aged 19 or over
  • You are currently receiving benefits
  • You are not enrolled on any other funded course
  • You are not employed for more than 16 hours per week

Not sure, or not eligible? Apply anyway. We will talk your options through, including our new self-funded places. More on the funding page.
